Our Story
In 1976, we began our journey in the heart of Columbus, Ohio. Custom Air was born out of a vision shared by our founders, Ed and Peg Wuelfing—visionaries who saw a better way to serve homeowners and builders in the HVAC industry. At the time, Ed was running the residential and new construction division of a local HVAC company. When that company chose to step away from the new home construction market, Ed recognized a unique opportunity.
With determination and a clear vision, Ed approached the owner with a bold proposal: to take over the business and establish a company of his own. That request was granted—and with it, Custom Air was founded.
Our name, “Custom Air,” reflects the roots of our largest initial account—a respected New Home Builder known for constructing truly custom homes. But more than that, the name captures our identity: delivering customized, high-quality HVAC solutions designed to fit the unique needs of every project.
From the outset, Custom Air’s business model focused on design-build projects rather than speculative construction. This approach allowed us to offer bespoke HVAC solutions, catering to the specific needs of each client. The business flourished, rapidly gaining a reputation for excellence and reliability.
Today…Our goal is to provide custom-tailored HVAC solutions by designing, furnishing, installing and servicing quality HVAC systems at a fair price for our clients.
